Many Hands

I was asked to do a logo with many hands. Hands are typically a hard subject for a logo. I have even worked for people that would not use hands in any type of logo. I liked this idea since it looks like people are voting and the logo is for a fund raiser for a building addition to our church and it was voted on. Now if people will only put their money where they put their hands.

3 Beautiful Things

I have a friend that typically writes three beautiful things on her blog. So I will try... since I still have an optimistic hope for the greater good.

1. Since I have no job, I can develop my facebook account.

2. Since I have no job, I don't have to worry about traffic or bad weather.

3. Since I have no job, I can start writing my autobiography.

Inauguration

Driving toward the Nebraska vs. Colorado football game, I was struck in awe at landscape that is dotted with large pinwheel looking wind generators. The sight made me wonder why our country is still so foreign oil dependant. Wind generators and solar power always made me think of my Great Uncle Karl and my dad’s interest in alternative energy. I never appreciated their interest, as much as when earlier in 2008, gas topped $4 a gallon making filling my van close to $100 a week.

2008 was a history making year! Our country voted Barack Obama into the Presidential seat. I am looking forward to 2009 and I have a re-newed faith in our country that we can maybe ... encourage positive changes. The Inauguration of our new president is next Tuesday. I pray that he will make a difference.

Now to finish with the Nebraska/Colorado game! It was the best Nebraska game of all time! Well, in recent memory anyway. Nebraska wins in the last two minutes with a record setting 57 yard field goal and a interception return for a touchdown for a final score of 40 to 31. My new favorite player is Ndomukong Suh. When he makes a great play like the interception return for a touchdown, the whole stadium yells, “Suuuuuh”. I was “throwing the bones” with the best of them!

I just hope our country will use this interception in history and turn things around.

Shock, sigh, gasp
I was called into the boss' office and told, "Your position has been eliminted." Thinking on my feet I asked, "When is my last day?"
The answer, "Today."
Jaw drop, eyes sting, mind reeling. "OK" was my defeated answer.
I was totally surprised and blind-sided. After 4 and a half years, I packed my personal items and left the American Business Women's Association.
A Bad Working Area.

At the begining of the new year, I tend to review my situation and the fleeting thought had crossed my mind that this year would be a good time for a career change. As my friend Wendy said "You put it out to the Universe and it answered."

I just didn't think the Universe answered so quickly or so arduously.

Christmas has come and gone

This year Mr. Christmas aka little brother, made the season for me. He inspired the tree to be put up, he did his shopping early and he insisted that the gifts be under the tree well before the day. I am charmed by him and I hope this will last his entire life. God bless us everyone.

True Blood

Can reading be too much of a good thing?
I've read all of the Twilight series and I enjoyed every last bit of teenage angst and romance. Now we wait until the movie release. I and my co workers plan to go the first day. There is just something about vampires. "Interview with a Vampire" has been a big favorite movie.

Yes, I'm on a vampire kick and I had to read Charline Harris' novels that inspired the new HBO series True Blood all 8 of them. So now I have to wait until she writes the next one before I can devour it.

I just want to bite someone.

Vamp at Work

So in full on Vampire attire, I joined my co-workers wearing their pumpkin and sports sweatshirts! I felt like biting someone.

The boys wanted a skateboard halfpipe for awhile and now their dream came true with the help a friend and $400 worth of lumber.

First Day of School

Still seeming like the the dog days of summer, the first day of school pounced into our lives. As always, I took the first day of school pictures of little brother age 10 and big brother age 14. They wouldn't smile or let me take several shots. That's what happens when you start 4th grade and 8th grade.












































But look at the first day of school 4 years ago....

Driving down the road, late for the boys piano lessons, just after registering little brother for school, we saw the strangest thing. A dog riding a motercycle! I am not kidding and I have proof. 14 took this picture from our van at the stoplight. Look the dog has his red baron googles on!

Fifty Hangers

Last Monday I bought 50 new fangled, thin, flocked hangers for my clothes closet. They are suppose to save space and prevent the clothes from slipping onto the floor. Originally, after watching many of the decluttering shows on TV, I had replaced my hangers with wooden ones. They were the industry standard for nicely shaped clothes and looked nice but they are space hogs and my tiny closet was bursting.

Thus, the new fangled hangers called to me.

Purchasing the new hangers has created the inertia to declutter my clothes. Since my weight release journey is now hovering at the 30lbs. mark, some of my clothes are baggy. So I tried on everything in my closet I then took out all that didn't fit and I was pleasantly surprised that some fit that hadn't for a while.

Today, I took a basketful of clothes to a ladies consignment shop. Neat. Maybe I'm make enough money to pay for the 50 hangers.
